Council For Voluntary Service

ASSIST DISABLED PEOPLE

DIAL assists local disabled people that are at potential risk of being isolated and socially excluded from society, acting as a signposting service to deliver information and resources whilst providing them with ongoing direct support where necessary

DIAL has a strong dedicated group of twenty eight committed volunteers that work between three to twelve hours per week; many of our volunteers are long serving and an integral element of the organisation.

Volunteers deal with the daily running of the information and advice line answering client’s queries and problems surrounding disability.  They all have personal experience of disability with either being disabled themselves or have close contact with someone who has, giving them a greater understanding of problems disabled people encounter.

All volunteers are fully trained allowing them to have the knowledge and confidence to tackle enquiries and problems accordingly, however more funding is required to have a continuation of training for volunteers.
