The emphasis of Adolescent.org.uk is to assist and encourage young unemployed adults to seek the means necessary to make a confident return into education, training or employment. This is achieved through a process of informal education and detailed assessments of an individual’s requirements and desired pathway. This approach provides a range of opportunities, such as being able to provide awareness of any possible training or education avenues through the assessment of individual needs. This approach with continual support and job hunting assistance, should allow for a successful return to employment.

A new initiative to encourage more volunteers to take up Deaf Awareness & sign language is now available in Brentwood

Signs4Life is setting up introductory workshops in Deaf Awareness to help the third sector to communicate and engage with their deaf/and hard of hearing colleagues, service users and clients. This local initiative is to help identify barriers that deaf people face and explore their culture and community but also to encourage inclusion of all people with sensory, physical or learning disabilities in Brentwood

“You never know when you will come into contact with a colleague, service user or member of the public who is autistic, deaf or visually impaired. We are working with organisations as varied as Barnardo’s, The British Red Cross and volunteer centres. Each of our events encourage a ‘can do’ approach to the 12 million people in the UK who have a physical, sensory or learning disability,” explains Ms Fozia Parveen, Signs4Life managing director.

What is the Community Links Forum?

The forum is an opportunity to spend no more than one hour connecting with people and organisations that have a passion for building community. The forum will enable faces to be put to names, share information about what is happening ‘out there’ and open up opportunities for further discussion. Anybody wishing to continue discussions after the hour would be welcome to go into the Colours Cafe at Sawyers Church.

Who is the Forum for and how will it work?

The forum is aimed at anybody interested in growing community in Brentwood and the surrounding area either as a service provider or user. One speaker from each organisation/group will have a brief opportunity to let other people know about the services on offer, any specific needs you have or things you have surplus to requirements that may be of use to other organisations.

What will you need to bring with you?

Please bring along business cards or compliments slips to pass on your contact details to other attendees. Coffee or tea and biscuits will be available.
