We are a small private club providing swimming for the disabled, we meet every Sunday from 3pm to 4.40pm at the Brentwood Centre to swim, we have exclusive sue of both the Main pool and Small pools, an electric hoist is available for access in and out of the pool.

Our members pay an Annual Subscription and you can swim most every week apart from when the Centre is closed for public holidays.

Not only does the session provide immense benefits for those with physical and/or learning disabilities by way of exercise, it can be a good social occasion, and also a great family time as siblings of disabled children can swim too!

We have annual outings and in recent years we’ve been to Eastbourne Air show and Windsor Castle, this year we are going to Colchester Zoo, we provide an accessible coach for all our wheelchair users, and have in the past been able to subsidise the outings.

We have Swimming Gala’s during the year and hold a couple of fundraising events, one of which is our annual quizz night held at St Margaret’s in September.

We are a friendly group, ranging from eight to eighty and would welcome new members to enjoy the benefits of swimming. For further information please contact Alan on 354161

Victim Support is an independent charity that helps victims of crime. We give free & confidential, emotional & practical support to crime victims & witnesses, whenever the crime happened and regardless of whether the police are involved.

We train our volunteers to give emotional support, information and practical help to people who have been affected by all kinds of crime. They make contact by phone & arrange a face to face meeting as appropriate. Volunteers have regular support themselves, have the opportunity to attend volunteer meetings to meet other volunteer’s and listen to guest speakers, & we pay expenses.

We would like a commitment of 2-3 hours weekly, either during the day, evenings or weekends.

The Witness Service is in every criminal court in England and Wales and volunteers give information and support to witnesses, their family and friends, before, during and after trials. Court volunteers need to be free to work during the day and normally for a minimum of two days a month.

We believe that young people deserve the best and need to be encouraged and supported in their growth and development. As a registered charity we aim to provide a professional service for young people who may be at risk, feeling isolated and experiencing distress.

At Young People’s Counselling Service we provide individual counselling to young people aged 13-25 years of age. The young people who seek help and support from us may be experiencing difficulties and problems that are limiting their potential and development, preventing them from achieving personal responsiblity and control in their lives, causing undue suffering, distress, breakdown, serious self-harming and alcohol and drug abuse.

We offer a Drop-in Service, Information Service, Crisis Input and Short, Medium and Long-term indivdual Counselling. We take any form of referral but the young person needs to be open to Counselling and motivated towards working on their presenting issues.

The volunteer opportunities at our Service are for Counsellors in training who require a placement or qualified experienced Counsellors who wish to volunteer their time and skills to support a charity in the local community.
